strange morality
    #3918002 - 03/14/05 10:42 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

There was a strange case not far from where I live.

In some village nearby my town there was a woman working in a local store, and a guy comes in to rob the store, and (I have no idea why) starts beating the woman. She falls on the floor and he continues.
Suddenly she says: don't beat me, I'm pregnant
And suddenly the guy stops in shock and steps back in shame and guild and say: Oh, I'm sooo sorry, forgive me
and just walks away

Anyway, it was not true, she just said that to protect herself, but that is beside the point.

What kind of strange moral code this guy has in his head?? If you forget the victim and the act for a moment its almost hilarious.

Sounds like an urban myth cooked up by planned parenthood. :smirk:

It's not an urban myth, it happened a few weeks ago.
It was toled by a friend of my father who works in that store too.

Or perhapse a proof of how inocent people really are..
they are like computers that work on false premises..

His brain is like computer program that just needs a bit of tweaking of some lines to get it to work succesfully in society.

In other words, he is not a sociopat, he just has been taught wrong

Same kind of false conditioning has spawned nacism. Nacism was not practiced by people who are sociopats and have no empathy.
Nacism is simple propaganda. People were taught that it is ok to kill non-arians, same way we are taught it is ok to kill mosquitos, yet
a cat should not be killed.

In a way, I agree with OldWoodSpecter...

...it is quite possible that as he beat the woman he was not considering (for whatever reason) the moral implications of his actions. The woman's cry of pregnancy shocked him into the ethics of the situation, and made him realize his error.

That's not really what I had in mind..

He did not become aware that beating A woman is wrong or something,
in fact he probably thought that even after he left.
I think that if you toled him that a chair is to be loved, and his mother is to be killed, he would just follow those "instructions"

That is why we have morality. It is pretty hard for most people to
tune in with their "inner self" and find love for all creatures,
so we simply must "teach" them what to do and what not to do in order to preserve peace.

Now this man was just thaught wrong. It is obvious that he has sense of right and wrong, but that sense was programed differently than usual.

We all have a "treat good" and "treat bad" lists.
Now life and surroundings are the ones who teach use who to put in what list.

Take a man, and teach him from birth to put his parents into the treat bad list, then show him examples of how to treat them, and you will make a killer out of him.

So in a way, we are all inocent children, confused and don't know what to do in this frightening life, and we don't know who to listen to. So all of this violence comes from this fear of life.

This man and many other criminals have not been given a chance to chose right from wrong because they have been taught wrong only, and not shown positive examples in the right light.

Some of us just end up "assholes" as we like to call them, others
with the right hormonal basis end up killers.

killing a mouse is bad
letting it struggle to free itself from a glue trap till it eventually dies from thirst is better, cause you didnt kill it...
