    #3917783 - 03/14/05 10:10 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

i used some rye, and i tryed 500grams rye and 500ml water and pced.. is this stuff supposed to look kinda dry? its not real damp looking but the kernels dont clump together. they all very neatly separate when i roll the bag around.. does this sound about right you guys?

heres a pic

if you can do it today put it off till tommorow cause odds are it isnt really that important and probably doesnt even need to be done at all.

That sounds right. You want them to appear slightly dry, and move around freely when shaking.

The pic looks really good, although, I would say that I couldnt absolutely be certain just from a picture. Just a tip brother, I prefer simmering the grain to obtain the proper moisture content.... IMO, its the failsafe method. Just a tip bro, do your own thing FOR SURE.... Anyway, good luck, and I hope you turn those rye berries into some monsters brother.... Peace

The picture....looks like shit.

The rye looks ok, but its hard to tell in a shitty picture  Sorry! Heres some good rye/wbs/verm mix at a nice water content though that may help:

most teks usually boil the rye before pc'ing

youre basically cooking it when you boil it...like cookin rice. The rye berries expand. When i pc, i dont notice too much of a change after theyre boiled. A few more might burst, but whatever.

in your pic, they look like theyve been soaked, but not cooked.

Actually, it looks like he did just what he said he did...neither soaked nor simmered and added the water and grain in the correct amounts and PCed. Its a method that works for a number of people, although I do find the soak and simmer method (or just soak if using as bulk spawn) to work out much better.

yeah see, i am trying to avoid that whole simmering pain in the asssss!! im a man of corn, waaaay cheaper but hell i hate simmering it and mixing with verm, id much rather weigh and ad water and be done with it.. having to break out the pc for like 5 hours and i have to simmer? naw that doesnt tickle my fancy..
