A full cycle consisting of three flushes take about 30 days. The way I do it though, I get 70% of my shrooms on the first flush. Good things come to those who wait my ass! LOL Thanks for the good question. Beans, beans the magical fruit... HelpMeJebusEdited by jebus2000 on 09/13/01 11:25 AM.

Close up of one of some of my cakes. These are Austrailian that I got form Captian Max. They grow huge and since I isolated a pure culture clone from a huge shroom...all I grow now are huge mushies.
This is the shelf in my closet where I keep all of the things needed neatly tucked away.

you say those are ten gallon aquariums??? i used a ten gallon aquarium and i fit four casing trays in there, three of them were done normal casing style with 2 cakes in each, and the other had a "cake sculpture" where i stacked two cakes on top of eachother, and then the same thing next to it (two cakes on top of some verm with two cakes on top of that with some more verm on top) the three casings didnt get any contams, but the sculpture did after the second flush, but i had two cakes growing neglect tek so i made them into a casing, and my friend had a B+ cake that he was growing neglect, and since most of them were aborting he gave it to me and i plopped it atop the new casing i had just made. i got over 3 oz from these twelve cakes before i threw them out (i was put on probation and didnt want to get into trouble. they were still flushing rapidly and i estimate that i wouldve had atleast 5 oz. before i was done. i also dont know how much an oz of shrooms really is. id fill up a ziploc sandwich bag and consider it an oz.) i also think that you are working waaaayyyy too hard!!!! i had my stuff hooked up to a humidifier, and a timer. the humidity was at a constant 91-94% and i had an air pump pumping in fresh air 24/7. it took no care at all except for turning on the light when i woke up, and turning it off when i go to sleep. i also had to pick the shrooms and fuck with the casings/cakes after every flush to get them going again. you must get barely any sleep!!! and you have to fuck with the perlite???? perlite is a real pain!!!! and why do you need so many shrooms???? my 3 ziploc bags was over enough for me and some friends to trip over two times a week with doses that were always over an 8th ziploc bag. with all that space you should do something better than have four aquariums with cakes!!!!! one thing that you can do is use the filter patch bags. that will get you alot of mycelium.
one plus one plus one equals three

You sound like you've got yer method pretty well worked out... before switching to rye grain directly, I would start casing the cakes first...for practice and it will allow you to have a buffer zone. Rye is easy but can be tricky to get the feel for it. My advice: buy a 22qt autoclave and start doing rye or wheat in quarts after doing a few casing runs with cakes first. After that you can begin to use the rye spawn to colonize dung for major major yields and a nice warm "bulk" feeling. ;) Could you actually post complete instructions for the drying thing? I think a lot would find that really useful.

Eternal,
The link Anno has posted is the best one to date. I have done a few others, but I think that one explains it best. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask...

Hey jebus. did you ever move on to bulk substraits? if i did my calculations right, you were getting almost 12 dry grams per cake. I've never heard of such high yields on pf, especially teaking nutrients out of the center.
