Sugar Cain Mulch for straw Substatute?

i can only get sugar cain mulch its about 3inch peices would this do for a straw log?

It's definitely worth a try!

Last year I tried to use corn husks, just for the hell of it. It colonized but very slowly because it doesn't hold moisture well, and contaminated before it finished.

its a mulch so its made for moisture retention

i got some pf cakes i can use as a stub , should i crumble it up or chop it up?
