Hello,

I obtained some fresh mushrooms from a buddy of mine but I've had them in a tupperware bowl not drying for a few days now, and I noticed they grew a funny smell and an odd slimey coat. Are these still ok to dry and consume or do mushrooms spoil? Thanks for any replies.

Would you eat anything else that fit this description? Mushrooms CAN spoil - fairly quickly. The only food poisoning I ever got was from spoiled mushrooms. Not magic mushrooms, just food mushrooms, but they damn near put me in the hospital.

Yea, mushrooms are just like any other food, they spoil, only diffenece is that they're a fungus and rot quicker...Sry about ur loss, that suxxxxx
