Confederacy of Dunces

Infinite Jest, Gravity's Rainbow, The Sotweed Factor, Giles Goat Boy, A Prayer For Owen Meany, American Psycho, Drop City, Lolita, Sometimes a Great Notion. Is there no one here who has read any of these books?

Ignatius was a great character. Did you know the guy who wrote that book died, and then his mom found his book and read it and had it published?

i read a prayer for owen meany. and confederacy of dunces, as well as O'tooles other book, called "Neon Bible" which he wrote when he was 14 or some ridiculously young age. It isnt a great book, but you wouldnt ever believe a 14 year old wrote it.

also, the guy killed himself by car exhaust. He wasnt pretty young when he did this, not too long after writing CoD.

The forward says that when he couldn't get it published he despaired and killed himself. His mom then shopped it all over and finally got someone to publish it. Pulitzer. What a waste. It makes my valve close to think about it. Just imagine Ignatius' adventures in NYC with "the minx".

I just got this book for xmas. Haven't started it yet though-plan on it soon when I got less schoolwork (which consists of mostly reading books and writing).

Quote:

American Psycho, Drop City

read both of these, AP was great. Drop city was interesting at first but I started to lose interest as it went on. I never really was a big fan of TC Boyle though even though his tone makes me laugh alot.
