Garbage tek 1.0

first off, i want to say that this isn't a real tek, although maybe it should be...

i've had problems with just about everything you can have problems with regarding our little friends, and have never found a tek that really worked consistently besides cakes.

BUT when i scrape verm off my cakes, or slice the cakes to make syringes, i throw the waste in a bag. instead of throwing the bag away, sometimes i just let it sit. and lo and behold, 9 times out of 10, nice shrooms will pop up. it really is amzing and somewhat ridiculous that all my research and time spent are somehow HURTING me, because per ounce of substrate, my garbage tek is about 100X as prolific as my results with grains, birdseed, castings, straw, etc. (all have been mercilessly infested with trichoderma)

this leads me to believe that my problems may lie in OVERobservation and OVERhumidification. even with very low humidities (like those found in the bag of trash) , i have seen shrooms, and trich seems to have much more trouble getting a foothold.

hopefully i (and we) can use the results of the garbage tek to improve our methods...

I think you are right. I find that the only way to get rid of trich is to let the substrate go dry, really dry if necessary, and then slowly rehydrate. Moisture and even H2O2 only makes it worse.

i am not the ugliest guy in the world, but ive come to realize that most girls dont like to be stared at and messed with by a guy like me anyway

iv'e learned that treating the girls that way helps insure success. so treat your mushrooms like really pretty girls. give them a chance to warm up to you, and they'll make you really happy
