I see it as pointless.

Odds are very low of a BRF quart jar being colonized successively.

you really don't want to do that.

it would take forever and a day...if it made it at all.

move on to Rye, WBS, Millet, Popcorn in Quart jars.

Have a pressure cooker?

Your gonna need one.

Mainly just lack of colonization after running out of steam. Cakes are really fussy and will just halt if moisture content isn't just right.

Like Roadkill said, grains are the answer. Mycelium will plow through a quart of properly prepared grain in a few days.

BRF is the slow boat to China, always has been.

Be careful when buying Rye.

I was just checking out some Fall Rye grain the other day...it really sucked bad.
It was terrible looking.

Basically you don't want your Rye to be too small or too skinny.

The stuff I saw the other day looked pretty fricken weak compared to these pictures.
It almost looked like beefy looking grass seed rather than grain.

Yes it works perfectly fine. Before I got into grain, that is what I did. Only fill the jar half full. And believe it or not, it shakes. I mean it is clumpy as hell, but you can still shake it and get the spores everywere. I did probably 3 batches of twelve like that, and never had a contam. Because there is not a dry verm layer, you need to inoculate in a glove box.

Dont listen to the guys who said it wont work, they have obviously never tried it.

Have fun.
