Do you ethnobotanists plant according to the moons phase?
The natives where i live, say i must not plant in the begining of a new moon.
It must have something to do with the gravitation which (tide) affects all liquids, but i'm not shure what exactly happens.

I've heard that you should plant on the new moon. I don't know of any evidence behind this, but have heard it from a few sites/growers.

funny i was just talking to my friend ( master gardener) yesterday and we were discussing this very topic!!
basically, when the moon is full it is closer to the earth than in it's other cycles, thus giving a stronger gravitation pull on the earth, this makes the water table rise slightly and give more available moisture to your seeds. basically.
but apparently old farmers, some of them, planted on specific days, not just before full moon, astronomy/astrology gardening.
my friend had never intentionally planted any plants on specific days, however, when they went back and looked at their garden journals( that's the kind of stuff pros do keep logs) they noticed that bumper crops of different plants, like peppers and tomatoes, occurred in years that planting was unintentionally done on the correct moon cycle.
i will find out where my friend is reading about this stuff and get back to you guys.
but i don't think it would matter so much for some of the more weed like ethnos. morning glories for example. but tender plants might be very useful.

the new moon means less gravitational pull meaning less moisture in the soils... That and its easiest to harvest by the full moons, using it as a reference. But that part is just my idea

Is that scientific enough? Do they explain why specific dates are better? Or just mention phases?
Is there a on line link for that?
Thanx!
