Electric guitar strings
    #3905605 - 03/12/05 01:29 AM (19 years, 1 month ago)

What guage strings does everybody use on their guitar? I usually use 10's, but I occasionally throw some 11's on. 9's sound way to tinny and they bend like rubber. 10's sound ok and they bend decently. 11's sound very full, but they are pretty stiff. 11's are definately not for shredding.

Depends really on what im playing...I put heavier strings on my acoustic and thinnner on my electric cause i like to play fast bluesy rifts and thinner strings helps to bend and makes it a litle whinier in my opinion.Heavier strings will give a fulller effect and a better sound if your playing rythm or just stummin

ELIXIR strings were a gift from god. if you like them, get your local giutar store to order you a set of the original coating. it is thicker than the nanoweb, but makes it a very smooth play. plus, the stay "live" for 2-3 times longer than standard strings.

i use .11s or .12s to acheive a thicker tone. these strings are not hard to do bends with, ya just gotta stretch em out for a while before u really start to play hard and do bends. when i first began using higher gauge strings they would break often, due to higher tension i guess. but now that i stretch them before i play every day they last for months and months. come to think of it, i cant remember the last time i broke one.

9's or 10's depending on what I'm doing ,
if I'm recording (which I;m alway's doing) or
playing live ,I'll use ten's GHS BOOMER'S.
also with my active guitar's I can get away with lighter gauges.

daddario .13's they are real thick but have great tone..
i think most jazz type guitarists use the heavier gauges

I usually use D'addario .11s for my electrics (a strat and an SG) and .12s or .13s for my acoustic.

I've tried the elixir/coated strings, and they're nice, but I usually end up breaking one in about the time a normal set would go manky, so it makes sense to save a couple of quid and just get the normal ones.
