First Birthday
    #390013 - 09/10/01 06:32 AM (23 years, 3 months ago)

I've been lurking for several months and read posts daily, so I'm going to try not to ask any stupid questions. I have gotten to the point that 4 (out of 6 - 2 others were fostered out) of my very first jars are covered nicely with mycellium (on the outside, at least), and have been for 5 days. I have a large rubbermaid-type container that I cleaned, modified, and loaded with wet perlite last night. I thought I remembered something about letting it sit for a while before the birthday party. This morning I looked inside, and I didn't see any nice droplets of humidity. Should I see something? I live in Florida and when I stick my hand inside, it feels like a sweaty day, I think. I've seen several posts saying that if I have perlite, I shouldn't have to worry about a hygrometer (I bet I got THAT word wrong - I mean the thing that reads the humidity.
My questions are :
1) I have about 1.5 inches perlite on the bottom, the container is appx 3' by 2', and then about 2' deep. Do I need more perlite?
2) Have I waited long enough to have a birthday?
3) Do I need to SEE humidity, or am I okay to ASSUME it is there?
Thanks for any help

1) That's enuf
2) Yes, no need to wait
3) If you got wet perlite, it's plenty humid

Thanks, puscle. Appreciate the response.
