Cactus I.D Please
    #389990 - 09/10/01 05:27 AM (23 years, 4 months ago)

this is on monster of a cactus growing in Queensland Australia. I approached the owner and asked to take a very small cutting. He said no but he would give me a cutting that he has started to root. It was bigger than what I would have taken. Since planted it has grown 2 inches(just over a month.) I love it no matter what but if it was a mescaline holder that would put the icing on the cake.
here are some photos of the parent.

Damn, thats weird...the pups in the second picture look like they're from from a totally different cactus...judging by the first and third pics, I'd say its a Cereus species, probably C. peruvianus...judging by the middle pic, I haven't a clue...

In any case, it isn't a Trichocereus, which means either no mescaline or only traces of it. If it's Cereus peruvianus, then theres none.

Try posting the pics at www.spiritplants.com. I know MS Smith checks in over there, and he should be able to help.

Take care

they're cereus peruvianus. i see tons of them every single day.
but that doesnt makes it less beautiful...

i hate witty sigs / if anything i say has something in common with reality, this is a merely a coincidence.
