What is your opinion on this subject?

This came up before...without masonry there would be none of the great cathedrals or nice walls in our fair cities.

Kidding, masonry--more appropriately Freemasonry is quite a thing. I've been involved since age 13, received my 32nd degree a few years ago.

People who are concerned about secret society issues really have no idea what really happens at most mason meetings. Most of the time it's like an old-people's coffee hole, where they like to describe their war experiences. The rituals are my favorite part--memorizing lines, acting out parts with costumes and props [skulls and shit!!].

Fundamentally, I've never found a better organization. Trying to avoid any kind of spam, the thing I like most is the requirement that one believe in A GOD for membership...doesn't matter which one, just one. That's philosophically a significant thing, defining one's place on earth, etc.

Anyway, a lot could be said, but have to jet to work! Later;

The 'main' masonic organization, the foundation of sorts is called the Blue Lodge; There are three degrees involved, each requiring substantial amounts of memory work--this is where the term 'giving someone the third degree' comes from.

After Blue Lodge, you can go into York Rite or Scottish Rite [or the Shriners, the circus/children's hospital/partying masonic group]. Not sure about Shrine, but York and Scottish have 32 degrees. There is an 'honorary' 33rd degree that is bestowed upon people who have made significant contribution to the fraternity--usually 50+ and older.

For what it's worth...
