Eating Mouldy Shrooms
    #3896966 - 03/10/05 09:24 AM (19 years, 22 days ago)

Nowthen,

Last weekend I ordered some fresh shrooms on the net but due to a postage cock-up they were sat, unrefrigerated, for the whole weekend in a post office. When I finally got to them on Monday morning, several of them had gone black/gooey at the ends of the stems and some have bits of green mould on them. Can anyone tell me if they would be safe to eat if I avoid the mouldy parts, or would this be a very stupid idea?

Cheers  :smirk:

Those shrooms are death waiting to happen. Do not eat anything that has green or black mold growing on it (I thought this goes without saying??) Throw them out man!

Get rid of them for sure. You might want to contact the company you ordered them from, maybe they have some guarantee for freshness and you can get some more.

Just think of it like any food product, would you eat a sandwich that was spoiled?

I've had shrooms before that have been just starting to go moldy, and even after discarding the dodgy-looking bits, I've ended up being violently sick, so it's probably not recommended. If you've got a replacement from the site then that's all good, don't worry about wasting those shrooms; there's a fuckload more spores in hyperspace. or something!

Ok, guys - we got it. DO NOT EAT MOLD.

But yet the question remains - exactly what would happen IF you did?
If death comes, in what way? Sick? How - by throwing up?

Could it possibly make you swell up???
