Does acid have a distinct odor?

Is there any way I can tell just by sniffing a blotter paper that it is really acid? I have never actually seen let alone touched a blotter paper, and if the chance comes by I would like to try it. But another thread about bunk acid has got me wondering: what does acid smell like?
Is there a way to identify what is on a blotter by looking at it under a 100x microscope lense?

Nope, and I don't think a microscope would help you much either.
Sometimes there's a slight metallic/bitter taste to the paper, but not always.
Of course, Erowid has an answer: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_info2.shtml

thanks for the info. That link was very helpful Phluck, but on the fly I probably won't have those chemicals available. Let's just hope I can get it from someone I know and trust (And someone who will be partaking along with me.)
what the hell... why didn't I think of erowid first?

Information and debate in this topic.
Somewhat related: Ask Erowid: Does anyone know if it is possible to taste LSD?, i.e. A bottle of Sweet Breath that may have been dosed was found by one of my fellow security guards at a party and it made it's way around to me and I was wondering if there's anyway to tell without just taking some.
Quote:
LSD is active in doses of under 1/10 of a milligram. That small of a quantity is completely tasteless. While LSD may have a taste in larger quantities, you would likely need to take several thousand doses to be able to tell. Some people say they can taste a slight metallic taste to blotter acid, but it would certainly not be strong enough to overcome the flavor of breath mint drops.
If you have access to a U.V. light, LSD glows white under blacklight. This is probably the easiest methods for identifying LSD both in liquid form and on blotter.
Hope this helps.
Taste is some large percentage smell (I believe something like 70%?) so yeah. It seems reasonable to me that the overpowering smell of the carrier would be easier for them to train for than the actual "smell" of LSD, assuming there is one.

Blotter doesnt, maybe the pure crystals do. Ive put very active blotter under a blacklight with nothing.
The best thing to know is what legit prints are out and look for those, and be able to trust your hookup.
