Urgent Air pump question

Well I've had my 2 casings in the grow chamber for a couples days and mycelium is starting to poke up. This is my first time and I have an air pump but I wanna make sure how to properly use it in a terrarium. Here's the pump http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ssPageName=WD1V it has the main pump with a little hose 1. Do I put the whole thing in the terrarium or just the tube? 2. Should it be set to a higher lower setting? 3. Do I leave it run 24/7 4. How should I make sure it's sterile before putting it in? Alcohol? Thanks I'd really appreciate it because I know NOBODY WANTS TO SEE CASINGS GO TO WASTE Sorry if it's redundant but time is of the essense.

H202 (took me a week to figure what the others on here were talking about, hydrogen peroxide. Cleaning and put it in water 1 part per 100 is the formula i think.
No you dont put the whole pump in the terriarum.
leave it outside and cut a very small hole in the side of your tube/ run the hose down the wall and let it go that way.

The pump won't blow in bad air will it? Do you spray/mist mixture over the casings? It doesn't hurt mycelium growth?

I run the hose into a container inside my grow chamber to bubble, and put straight h2o2 (3%)into the bubbler instead of water - it provides humidity and air and never seems to hurt the grow.

Put the pump in a plastic container...Like a Gladware container..
Put the pump inside Cut a sq. hole in the lid, taking up almost the whole lid, now where the hole is, tape tyvek there...Or make lots of holes nad put polyfil in, This is to allow the pump to suck in air(the polyfil/tyvek acts as a filter, kind of like the one for your ac, cept better lol)
Cut 2 holes in the container, One for the power cord from the pump and one for the tube, either you can make it like a slit and Squeeze the tube through making it to where it's kind of air tight, Or you can make it a big bigger and stuff with polyfil, I'd do both lol
Ta-Da, Good, Fresh Clean air for your terrium, i'm sure that someone has a pic of it... Gl

Ummm....If you pour it on your cakes you'll notice that they fizz...That's bad lol, The h202 will condensate onto your cakes..... I've dunked my cakes in a Strong mix of h202, found it rather blue, it barely fruit...=/ Maybe it's b/c mine was 9%? lol I'd still put in water though, they'd benefit more from pure water, or so i'd believe, Gl tho

Not with a bubbler into a glass of water/h2o2 mix.
You could put a filter disc on your air pump...if your anal like me. [/image]
---
I mist water onto my casings. Lightly misting the casings won't hurt the mycelium.
I stop misting when I get pins forming.
good luck!~

I have grown in some uber filthy ass places, and I have never once put a filter on my air pump. I don't have problems very often with casings getting contam'd, either. Might be worth the effort if you got the materials to do it lying around, though. I just wash out your terrarium before you put new casings in there.
attach a bubbler to your air pump with aquarium hose. Set the bubbler under some hydroton, add water until the bubbler is covered completely, then add a splash of h2o2

Well, I must admit I've been suspicious that might be slowing the START of the grow until the mycelium develop their natural peroxide resistance. So far, the rate at which the peroxide hits them is low enough that they come through it - and I live in such a humid climate, and lost SO much to contams on my first few grows, that I've taken some pretty extreme measures on every step of the process.
I suppose I should set up some side-by-side boxes with varying amounts of h202 in the bubbler, and get a feel for how much is enough because no telling how much it does slow the grow. (Doesn't seem to REDUCE the grow, by the way - helps, in fact, since I never used to get past the first flush without contams, no matter how well sealed the chamber).

Yeah, I ran into the Vermiculite at Wal-Mart thing a month & a half ago. So I came home, hauled out the Yellow Pages, found the closest garden supply center, and went there. Dude had some small bags, and I bought 3. He said wrong time of year for big bags, but he could order some for me, but I was only doing jars, so I said don't bother.

yea, my pump is in a filtered box with the tube running inside the chamber. Should the tube be above the casings to blow air down? My humidity still keeps going back up to 99%!? Should I take out some perlite?
