is it neccessary to dry them, or can you just keep them fresh?

you can just as well eat them fresh. i suggest you try both ways and see which you prefer more. the differances are negligible.

you can kerp them fresh but they will only last about 5 days.

if you have alot you can cool dry them, so they keep their potency and munch them later.

Since even modest yields via PF Tek are far more than you would want to consume in a single sitting, I would suggest Damp-Rid or some other dessicant that can be found at many groceries or Wal-Mart type stores--very cheap!! Fan dry for about 24 hours and then construct a 'dessicant chamber', preferably out of a wire screen suspended above the dessicant in a covered tupperware container...

How come everyone says to fan dry them for a day first before putting them in with the dessicant? What's the point of this?

additionally, if they are fat-stemmed specimens, try cutting them lengthwise on one side with an exacto-knife to further speed up the process...Speed in drying can conceivably make a difference in potency. Also, if you do use dessicant, make sure to check it often to make sure that it doesn't need cycled(i.e. if it gets clumpy, it has done its job and needs a new layer)...
