buy perlite, pour it into the container and smooth it out so it is about 1 1/2 inches high. pour in water until the perlite starts floating. stir it around, let it sit for a couple hours. then pour out all the water leaving the soaked perlite. smooth out the perlite again. ur done. if the tank is sealed, the moist perlite will keep everything inside PLENTY humid.

There should be no reason to let the perlite sit and soak. It doesn't obsorbe water. Like putting a jar in a sink, as soon as it is submerged it is full. Perlite is very porous, but it maintains its solid shape.

I found it at gardening store.Places that sell grow supplies will have it.
