How i know they tripped (obviously)
    #3895320 - 03/09/05 11:46 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

K obviously the members of Pink Floyd most likely tripped, and especially for musical inspiration... and i usually am not a big advocate of lyrics, unless its a band *like* pink floyd, the beatles, some Built to spill- and this is mainly derived from that feeling i get all down my spine and through my veins when i hear those passages, rifs, harmonies, ambience... and when i listen to "Time" by the floyders, this line always puts a grin on my face, whether im trippin or not, and closely resembles how i describe the come up of shrooms, and how you can only stay for so long...

Home, home again..
I like to be here, when i can.
And when i come home, cold and tired,
Its good to warm my bones beside the fire.

Just kinda seems like a huge metaphor to the euphoric reality of the psychadelic kind for me. Just pay attention to music people! AND KNEEL HUMBLE TO THOSE WHOM I WISH I COULD CREATE IT WITH!

I heard that the only one to use psychedelics was Syd Barrett, maybe I am wrong though

I highly doubt that. Just listen to the music and tell me you actually believe that.

Pink floyd were probably all acid-heads.

And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk ...four times already this year and I used to be over by the window and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and its not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire.

Actually, in many interviews the members of Pink Floyd claim that they rarely indulged in psychadelics, Roger Waters the least so, because they simply did not overly enjoy the experiences. They also almost never (if they did?) played concerts under the influence, because they believed a sober head was best for the performance.

This is not to say that some of their music was not inspired by acid, mushrooms, what-have-you; some of it was as they have also admitted to, but surprisingly enough they just didn't 'feel' the experience enough to make it a regular thing.

I have a documentary DVD on Pink Floyd. It has footage of Syd Barrett's first mushroom trip and has Roger Waters and I think the keyboardist or drummer (I get them mixed up) talking about taking acid at least once and smoking pot. They didn't really get into drugs as much as a lot of other bands.

It's weird, the bands you would think did a lot of drugs together often didn't. Not just Pink Floyd but also Phish...Trey and Fishman were actually the ones to do the most, especially psychedelics, and Page apparently tripped a couple of times and liked to smoke, and to my great surprise Mike doesn't do drugs.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.
