amount of cc's in each jar

I have 1/2 pint canning jars. The growing guides say to put about 1 cc of spores into each one. What difference does it make if you put a little more, say 1.5 or 2 cc's, in each jar?

If you put 2 cc in each jar, a syringe will only last you for 5 jars :wink:

you can end up with too much water content making it hard for the mycelium to grow. for rye grain i use .5cc for a 500ml jar. I give it a real good shake right after inoculation for about 20 seconds and then let it incubate undisturbed.

When you get the feel down, so you dont over squirt it, you can do one drop down each side and center, and usually they all go.

I have used anywhere from 1 to 2 cc per jar. 2 cc jar colonized a little faster. just expirament with it you will find your own secret style.

brewhaha is right about the water content getting messed up though which can totlly fuck with things

I know someone who used a whole syringe on a single jar, not as an experiment, he was just an idiot, did it to 3 jars, 1 contamed.
