Hum, that isn't San Pedro is it? San Pedro doesn't have spikes, that is of the tuberous family of cacti. From what I hear / see, cacti get mushy from excess moisture and get dry, I believe that is from excess heat / infection(pests etc.).

Logically I would hypothesize that that was due to lack of water or excess sunlight.

due to some problems i had this cacti in darkness for 50 hours.
today i set it in direct sunlight and i watered its plate and it sucked all the water immediately.
maybe i should water it more?

so this off coloured spots will be recovered?
thanks

Looks like a T. peruvianus. I had something similar happen to some while moving and they got too hot. (over 120f) Could be fertilizer burn, sunburn, improper soil pH, a secondary infection to insect damage.... I doubt that it will do much harm. Keep an eye on it and make sure it's not getting larger and that the tissue underneath doesn't get mooshy.

aside from it being suspect of not being san pedro

that spot, if it's hard and callous-y will stay that way. Consider it a battle scar.

I don't know what kind it is but it definately isn't a pedro. It may be a mescaline containing variety, possibly. I wouldn't worry about the spot on it. They all come down with spots usually. If you had it in the dark don't put it in the sun all day. Gradually give it more light.

it looks like a pedro, but with spines. but that one lil scar is hardly anything to worry about, mine have a couple. its just a natural thing of nature, nothing is perfect. just like when a leaf gets a brown spot on it. its still fine but has a brown spot on it.

I didn't say it wasn't active, if you got it from a smart shop I'm pretty sure it's going to be active. I'm just saying it's not a pedro, not a t pachanoi. It may be a bridgesii which is very active.

Listen to Maverik

It most resembles a T peruvianus, perhaps even a macrogonus. Probably active.
