More Cake??? Need experienced advice

So I'm casing with 12"x6" trays... 1/2" verm on the bottom layer, 1/2"-3/4" top casing layer (50/50) but I'm only using 2 crumbled cakes. Is 2 cakes too little? Do more cakes mean more yeild even tho it's the same surface area? I'm thinking of using 12"x12" tray? Any input on how many cakes to use? And a little of topic, but does fanning lower the humidity?

More cakes the better. Just because their is more surface area does not mean more fruits. Depth of substrate vs yield(fruit sizes) is a major factor. More substrate means more fruits.

Yes more cakes = more nutes = more yield.
Im not a person of inches but you even can case ONE cake. But adapt the container to the amount of cakes you are using.

Highest yielding substrate depth is about 2 inch, what I hear them say.
Deeper is bigger shrooms but not a higher yield in the end.

There is a *rule*, make the casing layer 1/4 of the substrate depth.
