Hawkwind

A friend made me a copy of a random Hawkwind album and I totally dig it. Can anybody make any recommendations or shed me some more info on this band. Very "old school" psychadelic rocking sounding... from when it was all going down, ya know?

Lemmy was a founding member of Hawkwind before he left to form Motorhead.

My favorite Hawkwind album has to be "It's the business of the future to be dangerous"
also check out Anubian Lights - an electronic project by Hawkwind's Nick Turner.

also check out both discs of the 1973 live album, Space Ritual. it's my favorite album of theirs and is some classic space rock jamming. pretty lo-fi qualitywise..I wonder if it's been remastered or if plans are being made to do so. I think it might detract from some of the primalness of it, but it'd be nice to hear a more polished version of this album.

I have a collection of Hawkwind albums on vinyl. I saw them live back in the early 70's in NYC's Academy of Music - coming out on stage with all these huge ostrich feather plumes. Very weird. My most memorable event with their music was listening to their 'Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do' album - black field, silver shapes, and a friend handed me a joint, the first hit which sent me into a black void with silver metallic orbs flying past me. The joint apparently had some DMT on it, and the experience absorbed the sound and art of the album. Album art used to be rather powerful an influence (plus, one could always clean one's grass on a double album

I just recently opened a Moody Blues' "To Our Children's Children's Children" album and there were a bunch of seeds in the spine. Had to be 20 years old.

I'm sure. Personally, I listened to The Moody Blues in the early to mid 70's for the most part. I can find some green residue on Jefferson Starship's 'Blows against the Empire' album.
