i am not going to be growing shrooms anymore so i figured id post one last thing here to help all you newbies out there. well i got rid of all the dried shrooms and growing shrooms that i had (thrown away into the neighborhood trashcan) about two weeks ago. i am now on probation and even though this is a fun hobby i cant risk getting in trouble, so i got rid of them and i dont plan on growing again. i do think that it is good that shrooms are out there though. people need to do shrooms, it is just one of those things you should experience. there are lots of tricks that i picked up and i will share these tricks with you so you wont have to worry about not ever having some shrooms when you want some. the last time i grew i had a fully automated setup and i got 3 1/2 oz. from 2 flushes of 12 jars that i turned into casings and there was going to be alot more since they were really healthy and the flushes were still huge. i estimate that i wouldve had around 5 oz. by the time they finished. then again i dont know how much an once is?? i figured one of those ziplock sandwich sized bags was an once. am i right? well those are what i used, and i had 3 and 1/2 of those. the thing that you really need to do is use common sense!!!! if you dont want them to get contaminated then you dont put them in a dirty place!!! i never once got a contam!! science in general is all based on common sense. i always acted as if they were growing in nature, and didnt go through to much extremes to get things clean. i just made sure that i was cleaner than normal since i want the chances to be at 100% which it is not in nature. common sense was the base of my hole setup. it needed fresh air so i got an air pump going 24/7, it needed humidity so i got a humidifier, i needed to test the humidity so i got a hygrometer, etc.... if youre setup needes something then get it. another tip is to stick with what you got. you dont want to get out of control with this hobby, especially if theres an alternitive. all i had was a 10 gallon aquarium in my closet!!! i would turn the light on when i wake up, and turn it off when i go to bed. when i made the casing all i did was close my window, spray some h2o2;h2o solution and then i crumbled the cakes with some washed hands (washed with normal soap nothing special) and tthen i put some vermiculite on the crumbled cakes. i didnt even need to sterilize it. growing shrooms is just another hobby. if youve ever had a hobby then you need to treat it the same. get into what youre doing, and do it well. it aint rocket science. some things that id recomend getting are:
hygrometer
some type of way to give continious fresh air (air pump)
an aquarium with a good lid
a humidifier also has worked alot better for me, but it seems like some people are having orgasums from using perlite and they insist on it
i would also recomend casing. cakes are just too exposed and dont flush nearly as well. casings also make things look pro-style so when youre girlfriend comes over she'll ask you all these questions about them and you can get some brownie points explaining to her how it works ; ) and dont grow invitro!!! for some reason all the shrooms i ate that were grown invitro seemed to suck!!!.

Let me be the first to say goodbye and thanks for all the great information. I totally agree with you. Growing shrooms is not something you should do to start selling them and making a profit or to do so you can get fucked up on the weekens but rather a hobbie, a experience that you can learn from and teach other about.
