If you have to trick someone into doing what is better for them, would that be wrong?

Who are you to say what is better for the person in question?
Shouldn't the person be the one to decide what is best for them?

How would trickey be "better" than honesty....? Who is ANYONE to judge what is better for another....? And if it was actually better for them, would they not better understand and learn if you were to put in the efforts of helping them understand the errors in their ways....? Selflessness is easy.... Just takes some practice, if you are wanting....

If this is your standpoint, who says anyone is getting tricked by an advertisement....? Putting a lot of assumption into this.... As, are not the advertisements sponsors of a form of entertainment....? And seemingly, most entertainment is "trickery" as well, but that does not mean it is tricking anyone, nor is it doing anything for the "better" of intentions....

What if it's your friend who has taken 20g of potent mushrooms and is trying to kill himself?
Or if they're trying to kill others?
I think there are times when deceipt might be in order.

Well, that was more acting out of sanity itself.... Perhaps there are certain special circumstances that warrent immediate override corrective actions.... That of the insane, when tripping out of one's gord, and of the sinister intentions, perhaps....? There are prolly~ a few shades of gray area that can be indentified.... Any more that I am missing....(?)

i agree.
trickery would be tricking someone into doing something, namely something for the benefit of yourself and it being something the other person would normaly would never do if he knew the truth of the situation.
look at this phrase "hate hate.", is it wrong to hate hate? i think not, the first "hate" in that phrase means something else when you put it before the second "hate", giving a whole new meaning than if i were to tell someone to "hate", it's the same with deceipt, though i would'nt even call it deceipt once the intente behind becomes good, we don't have another word for the first hate in the sentence, the good kinda hate, nor do we have a word for the good kinda deceipt. (atleast, i don't think we do??)

If a person was going to drink poison, would it be trickery to tell him its poison and not to drink it, no! But if that person knew it was poison and was going to drink it anyway, then maybe its best to tell him that you took a shit in it earlier
