PEACE

:mushroom2:zippoz:mushroom2:

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

"People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

uh, you might want to edit the thread title.

Why not? It is expensive and time consuming. We should bury it for now, then jetison it out of our solar system once we have constructed a space elevator. That is, if we construct one.

I think we were doing it for a while. Then Carter, expanding on an idea by Ford, decided it was too risky. He was concerned about proliferation in the midst of the Cold War.

Even if he was right at the time, things have changed. I have no clue why reprocessing hasn't been given a second look. It would be a great move for the US to make.

Well we don't want to do anything to make alternate energy sources look attractive or anything, as long as it stirs up controversy and pisses people off they'll be more resistant to it...

Doing anything with nuclear waste is costly and expensive. I should know because used to know alot of nuclear people.

I think its is easier and cheaper to outsource the reprocessing to the UK or France.

I guess its better to have just a few plants reprocessing the spent fuel from lots of reactors, according the the BNFL site, there are only 440 nuclear reactors in the world with another 35 being built.

I know the UK gets shipments of spent fuel rods from the US for reprocessing at the Sellafield reprocessing plant.

I think that we don't reprocess it so Nevada gets more coverage beyond it's casinos + whores.

That, + money, time... but neither should be an issue in regards to how much money we waste as it is. IMO I think that the utility companies that manufacture the waste should be in charge of it's reprocessing, and not the government... In regards to government facilities, they should be in charge of reprocessing.

Seems we'd rather pollute though. Kyoto treaty anyone?
