little luck from yesterday's hunt
    #3886406 - 03/08/05 10:04 AM (11 years, 8 months ago)

well due to so much traffic near one of the areas i usually visit, i had to hunt from outside the field which made for some very low yields. i found two cubes, an antillarum and a cow grazing on the wrong side of the fence. the cube pics came out blurry (i use 10x optical zoom cam) and i couldn't keep my hands still enough to take good pics but i did manage to get the antillarum and cow. pics below. sorry theyre not even that great of pictures as i couldn't get close enough for detail. also found some oil floating in a canal that looked interesting, i couldnt help but take a pic of it

Things were still quite soggy this morning so since the sun was out all day were hoping it dried out for a good hunt tomarrow.

i actually deleted the pics i took of the two cubes i found due to them being so damn blurry =( the shroom at the top is just an antillarum i spotted while looking for cubes. still blurry none the less as i had to take the pic from about 20 feet away. go ahead and post pics here if you dont want to start another thread, i'd love to see em

oh ok kool, thanks-  I guess I might as well post them in here- the three of us form the TX Triangle anyways- which i think is sick

not much of a haul but I was liable to slap the beJesus outta my friend when he ripped a few of these beautiful immature specimens out of the ground with no regard of What so ever for the future cube growth in this field

GG234-- Hows it goin bro- Havent seen you around lately- everything goin ok?

If you look @ the first pic with the newspaper- you Can tell me exactly what date it is i Found them on if you look hard enough at the upper right hand corner of the page- I did that just to be creditable- But the habitat shots.. the very bottom pic- was taken in early Jan after a pourdown- hence the waterloggedness', do you ever find them like that MJ? Is that normal for that blackish to turn out after mass amounts of rain?

The other pics were taken 3days ago when the sun finally came out- WHich I am so very happy for!!- every field Ive been to- I had to watch out for snakes swimming around in the field- its deeep out there as far as where the water stands especially under the big tall Oak trees where they cant catch the sun

what kinda luck you been having over there in Pinellas Cty? You even started looking yet? I miss your beautiful pix- I noticed that the appearance of TX cubes, really do change from state to state , field/field. wouldnt you say? is that basically because of the different weather conditions each diff habitat is faced with in which the funguys grow thereby causing them to look different ?

i've seen a difference in cubes just by travelling about an hour away from where i live...the cows walk around in this field separated by a long large strip of trees...the cubes growing in the forest area all had a slight green tint to them on the top of the caps. 3 years ago my friend and i hauled in half a Glad trashbag full, you walk 5-10 feet and there was literally another patch right in front of you..too bad i didn't own a digi cam back then. this continued for about a year until i guess too many people found out about that area

it tends to happen to any field around here, mainly because people just aren't smart about hunting. i drive by some of the old fields i used to go to and i see cars parked right in front of them. thats just asking for trouble
