Botany/Ethnobotany College?
    #3882343 - 03/07/05 11:58 AM (19 years, 1 month ago)

Hows it going everyone!
I am starting the process of applying to college. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good colleges in the US or Austrailia that have good botany departments. I plan to get a major in Botany and then continue to study Ethnobotany. Does anyone know of any awsome colleges, preferably in Australia, that would do me good? Thanks for the help.

Peace

I've heard UC Fort Collins has a horticulture degree.

Stay away from Pre-Med schools. The bio department tends to focus on breeding doctors and very few actually care about living things the way we do.

I hate to say it, but Texas A&M university is one of the best agriculture schools out there. They have everything you could be looking for. But you would have to be in the US for that one.

Perhaps I should have said, beware of small premed schools unless you personally know faculty that share your interests. Large schools like A&M or UW Madison usually have something for everyone. That being said UWMadison also has Ag Science.

uconn- university of connecticut. founded as an agricultural school originally... they have a cooperative farm, complete with dairy store and ice cream shack from the dairy on campus, brand new proffesional greenhouses (1 year old) and a wide variety of options for a degree in botany/horticulture.

besides, Uconn is a really good school (high rank) and is party central as well. all in all a great place to study plants and have some fun.

Stay away from A&M! I live near it and I know about the cops there. The A&M campus police have the most authority out of any police force in the state. The State Troopers don't even have as much authority. I know it sounds weird but thats the man for ya! A&M has so many campuses and owns so much land that the A&M cops can go all over the damn place. They are like roaches. We need an exterminator!!! Besides, why the hell would anyone come here if they can go to Australia?

Texas state troopers have authority everywhere in the state. The only state law enforcement agent in Texas that a Texas State Trooper has to relinquish authority to is a Texas Ranger.
