DIY innoculation loop instructions?
    #388480 - 09/08/01 01:01 AM (22 years, 6 months ago)

forgot one thing and it was a loop. anyone have a link to instructions so i can make one myself (i dont know what they look like, so pics would be awesome too)...? thanks in advance... :)

(or, is it better to use a scalpel or something else, rather than a homemade innoc. loop?)

To make a loop get your hands on some wire - platinum is the best but maybe thick fuse wire would work. You want wire thats not too thick but not too flexible. Get one end and loop it around a thin pencil, twist it like a twist tye on a garbage bag and cut off the end really close to the orginal stem. It should look like a little loop on the end of a bit of wire - hense the name wire loop.

Attach the end to a bit of wood oor an old knife handle. Heat the loop up until its glowing read hot, cool in sterile agar and loop away.

Hope this helps, PM me for more info and some links
