Since I started growing about 8 mounths ago, I have had
about 6 different cake beds. I have only gotten about 6 good
trips for myself because all of them except for one of them
gets Green F'ing contamination. I try to be more and more steril every time, but my casing always gets green mold growing on top of it. Most of the time I use 50/50 tek with the
lime and everything, but that shit just wont go away.
My casing is always sterilized at 175 for an hour and
never exposed to any unsteril air, at least I think
obviously I must be wrong.
Does anybody know a foolproof sterilization tek for casing
or am I just doomed!

None are foolproof. You should have better luck with a straight verm casing.

i second the plain verm, but with added spray the verm with 9 to 1 H2O2 until its moist. the moist casing grabs airborne contams and the peroxide kills them but doesn't harm the girls.

i have the same problems. if trichoderma is around, it will seem to fuck with you big time, everytime. i had 12 invitro jars going, within a day 7 (!?!!) of them turned green and triched out. and they were the ones closest to each other, meaning that the trich probably spread from jar to jar. even though the jars were upside down and should have been pretty airtight, the shit somehow came out of one jar and into the others. i am amazed at how this stuff gets into everything.

Do you guys wet your substrate or casing mix before you sterilize? I always boil my substrate in the jars or in a bag WET and I've never had a single contam... that's the only thing I can think of. Hope that helps!

Use a pressure cooker and cut back on the amount of lime to make the casing a little more acidic. The mycelium grows a little bit slower but I have cut way back on contams by using a more acidic casing.

Oh, also the higher acidity won't stop cobweb mold. you'll have to use h2o2 for that.
