best way to sterilize plastic?

i was going to either use alcohol or boil it in hot water, got any other suggestions?

it depends on the plastic, some are autoclavable, alcohol will definately work but
even after the flash off time there may be residual traces that could affect
growth, bleach is another option but again growth could be affected and removing
the residue is much more difficult.

here is a little chart with types of plastics, the stuff with a 5 on it is
polypropylene, it can withstand temperatures for steam sterilization and
microwave sterilization, if you let us know what you're use will be we can give you better instruction on how to reach your goal.

gladware is the most commonly used but some compounds of high density polyethylene
are autoclavable, Tyvek for instance, it's made from recycled milk jugs ans is made from HDPE

I clean really good with anti-bacterial dish soap. Then I soak in bleach water, then rinse really good and dry with paper towel. Then i spray with lysol and wipe it out with another paper towel.
