Up or Sideways?
    #3879732 - 03/06/05 08:36 PM (19 years, 26 days ago)

Its true that shrooms grow towards the light right? Well my rubbermaid containers have a non translucent lid but the sides are all translucent. Is that bad? Will my shrooms grow sideways!?

is the tub itself cased?
as long as you have a casing container in there, you shouldn't worry.
i have a transparent one w/ an opaque lid
works fine

They go towards the "hottest" light, Aluminum foil is very "hot".

They also grow towards perlite/the bottom b/c the humidity is greater there

yes the tub itself is cased. the rubbermaid is small though its like 7 inches high, i wonder if that has to do with anything.

i just saw your tub in your other thread.
i think that you might have some trouble with side pinning on that one.
i recently switched from placing my casings in tubs, to casing the tubs themselves.
i got an opaque one and some plexiglass
caulked a little window for light.
when it's incubating, i just place the cut-out over the window

Umm...what are you talking about? Your rubbermaid has literally Nothing to do with where You placed your light..:wtf:

A foaf does what you're doing.
I personally like PmP's, Fanning all the time and misting doesn't exactly mesh well with my daily activites =/

Naw thats what the tin foil is used for from blocking the light out of the sides. what do u do to keep the humidity right when you case the your whole tubs?

Just mist, if you case the whole terrium then there's not much else that you can do.

O, and you could put down some moist verm. below your sub. for later flushes, it'll suck the water right out

I've known others to put down dry verm. , they did it to keep water from pooling(they misted to much) and yea...anyways , but i guess that it depends on the person

Hmmm...Well for a casing...Mist till the top looks saturated, shouldn't be big droplets, should just look wet.

If you use striaght verm. to case, then it's hard to tell the different between wet/saturated and really fucking wet

I'd suggest using coco-coir/verm., and if your into using ph buffers then you can try some lime w/ peatmoss and verm.

I mist when the casing looks a bit dry ( i never like to see it drop, thats Bad for the sub.....cuz thats what casings are for, Moisture) and i also mist when there's not condensation on the walls.

I had a lot of trouble finding a tub with opaque sides and a clear lid as well. I went to wal-mart, lowes and home depot, with no success. I ended up just buying an all opaque one and putting a little flashlight in there. After a week of that crap I got tired of it and resumed my search for an opaque-sided clear-topped lid. I went to Staples and voila, perfect terrariums for $10 apiece. For anyone having trouble finding those kinds of terrariums, try Staples, and I imagine Office Max or any other similar office supply store.

Excerpt from one of my textbooks:
Therefore, between a then and its matching else, there cannot be an if statement without an else. Statements must be distinguished between those that are matched and those that are unmatched, where unmatched statements are else-less ifs and all other statements are matched.
I wonder if that would make more sense if I was tripping when I read it.

As for cakes....well casings to, Never mist directly on them, Mist up and let it fall on the cakes, but not much....never spray Directly on a casing when you see myc. break through....if u do then u may get overlay...You can find all of using the search function, + other shit, Keyword: Casings..

It's where i found all of my general info.....and this is def. general info.
