Cakes !! Please Help !!
    #3878877 - 03/06/05 07:53 PM (13 years, 18 days ago)

I had just birthed my cakes about 4 to 5 days ago. I dunked them because they were dehydrated. Once I put them in the terrium there was this whitee fuzz growth near the bottom and vermiculite. I posted pics and most said it was from the humidity and is normal. Anyways I was gone for the weekend and I got home expected to see mushy's. But what I did see i a really white fuzzy cake. The fuzz surround the cake and has protruded the top layer of vermiculite. I will post pics soon but would like some knowledge if anyone has some. Thank you "Members" of the greatest web site ever, "THE SHROOMERY"

It really is hard to tell without pic's. If it is snow white it more than likely is normal growth, which is a good thing, but if it is a little greyish it could be cob-web mold, which you might be able to get a handle on with a little H2O2 and some fanning. Fanning keeps the stagnant air from building up in your fruiting chamber, which cob-web mold loves. Get rid of the stagnant air and keep away cob-web mold. Try to post some pic's some we can be sure. Good Luck. Peace,Love,Happiness and Harmony. Hippie Chick.

why would you encourage people to try and fight off mold. throw the shit away. and fanning it is a GREAT idea if it is mold, just blow it all over the place, you might as well stick your nose up to it and take a nice whiff. you should probly take your health into consideration over a cake, unless you like having mold all over your alveoli.
