Im not sure if the name Steve Via means anything to anyone here.. but if you play guitar then you should know his name just as weel as you know your guitar... He is the Greatest Guitar God EVER! There hasnt been or never will be a guitar player like him... Does anyone here know him?? if you dont shame on you. HE is awesome. I will be filming the concert and will bring clips and post them here so you can see what I am talking about if you don't know him.

Actually there is a guitar player like him.
His name is Joe Satriani. Vai's teacher.
They arrange a G3 about ever year or two, with a guest guitarist.
Yes, you're right. he is quite amazing. His shows are EPIC long....

Umm. Satriani may have "taught" him, but Frank Zappa really tested him. Frank Zappa used him as a transposition machine. Transposing Zappa would be like trying to solve 5 rubic's cubes at the same time.
But frankly, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp and Buckethead have got an inch or two on Vai. Vai has seemed to plateu as of late.

Vai is my hero. I'm seeing him play March 26 in NYC. Should be fun!

I saw Vai do a demo thing in Chicago in late 2000 and that's really what turned me on to guitar. He's awesome to say the least.

omg guys the concert was off the hook!!!!!!!!!! It was great it was a standing room only concert no chairs so first come first serve.. Me and my bpyfriend got there like 2 and a half hours early so we were the first ones in... We were center stage right in front!!!!! Steves sweat could have fallen on me... In the end I left the concert with a shirt adrum stick that the drummer gave me ( he put it right in my hand I almost passed out) and a few guitar pics steve gave us you know the ones that he played with during the concert. My ears are still supper messed up I cant hear..lol but it was well worth it. I dot think I have ever seen a concert like that..... I Totally got my rock on last night... where I was standing there were like 3 joints being passed around...... It was a night I won't soon forget!!!!!!

I think the dudes from Umphrey's McGee eclipse Vai.
Here's a sweet video of Vai playing Tender Surrender. Best guitar orgasm face ever.
