I thought so too. But they actually do move. There must be plain scientific explanation!

O yea, Those do work. I went on a field trip and these old guys with copper piped all bent up had us walk accross this section of a field, each persons rod pointed down at the same point.

It was the shit.

Look at the construction of those "dowsing rods"...

A long metal wire, bent at 90 degrees and stuck into a piece of wood so the wire can turn freely. Now think of what happens when you hold that wooden handle upright: gravity is trying to pull down on the tips of the wire and you are keeping it horizontal by holding that wood PERFECTLY vertical. Any movement of the wooden handle off from virtical will cause the tip of the wire to move down (due to gravity) and it will thus swing around to point in the direction that you are tipping the handle. Even a fraction of a degree off of vertical will cause this to happen.

Now start walking around with them and just try to keep that handle 100% perfectly vertical....

Just about near impossible :smirk:

yeah but did they all point down at the same point because something was there, or did the fact that one person pointed theirs down cause a reaction which took a microsecond for your subconcious brain to recognize and respond to, making your concious brain point theirs down with out knowing it?

Ok this is how it went down.

The guy was talking, I was not paying attention (Bad ADHD at that age) then I see him walking with the rod and it points down... I still have no idea what the fuck is going on. then he hands out pipes to everyone and we go to town... Still not knowing what the fuck was going on or why we were all walking aroung pretending to be rideing bikes or something my pipe pulls down.... Im unsure if it was at the point everyone e3lse was at but I think it was close... I just figured those old guys had magnets(SP???) or something in the ground.

Sorry for all the spelling errors and shitty grammer.... im on shrooms.

not all of them are like that. some are totally solid so there's no freely turning metal. some of those old dudes can just use any old sticks, made of wood, they find lying around. although I think most dowsers have their favorite rods (don't we all) and they're usually made of metal.
