Hey. I've shroomed less than 10 times in my life, same with LSD, but what I've experienced has changed me for the better. I won't go into the cathardic experiences right now since I imagine most of you know for your selves how life changing a trip can be, suffice it to say, I get it.
Anyways, I recently moved out to southern California and I have made some authentic "druggie friends". I want to become more knowledgeable about the drugs I use, and I want to start growing my own mushrooms.
So here's my newbie questions. Myself and two friends have decided to order one of those mushroom kits and spores from the ads in High Times. We're ordering from the homestead book company ad. I checked out their web site, it featured the classic kit, and spores, and the new ez-grow kit. I'm not sure if we're quite ready for the classic kit, it requires a lot of extra tools, and it seems to be catered towards more experienced growers. The ez-grow kit however, is advertised as the simplest method to producing shrooms. Naturally I'm skeptical about a simplified process, when the classic method seems to require such meticulous care and nurturing. But if the ez-grow works in simply 2 steps and requires no extra tools, then it would be ideal for beginners like us.
So do you all have any experience with these products, or something similiar(like an ez grow kit)?
If so what are the positives and negatives of a simple ez-grow system, and most importantly does it produce mushrooms of equal potency and volume as kits using the classic method?
And lastly, what's the deal with not shipping spores to California? Is this a strictly enforced rule, or is it sometimes bent? And am I a retard if I have the spores and kit sent to my house?
I truly am a newbie to this culture, so forgive me if I've offended the "purists" by considering a short cut system like ez-grow. Right now I just want results, I'll learn the subtleties of growing as I become more experienced.

It is much cheaper to go out and buy the stuff yourself, ofcourse, that is other than the spore print/syringe that you will have to order online. For under $30 US you can have a fully functional, newbie fool-proof method of growing shrooms. Roughly all you need is:
12 1/2 pint jars $6 - $8
brown rice flour $2 - $3
vermiculite $2 - $3
perlite $2 - $3
good water (optional) $1 - $2
terrarium of some sort (aquarium, tupperware) $10 - $15
thats $26 to $33 dollars of equipment, plus $12 for spores!
$38 to $45 -- CHEAP!
ofcourse you may find stuff cheaper or more expensive and may have canning jars or a terrarium at home. Good luck!

go to the grow/find section of the shroomery and check out the mmgg or simple cubensis... that homestead shit is a waste of money.. if you had money to spend on that them just start from scratch yourself and invest in some kind of filter discs, they will be a great benefit to you... order syringes from one of the many vendors who frequent these boards......

Stop!! Don't order that homestead kit. Many people fail using that kit. I used it myself with moderate success, but there's better ways to grow these mushrooms. If you have never grown before, check out the Psilocybe fanaticus(PF) method using brown rice flour and vermiculite. I would start by doing a lot of reading in this web site. .

Everything you need to grow is cheap and this method is very effective.
If you really want a kit check out the Dung Brothers kit at the hawks eye.Scroll down the page is near the bottom. If you were already going to spend $70,this kit is much better.A little more expensive, but very effective.

This kit works and produces large amount of shrooms.
