    #3872931 - 03/05/05 02:59 PM (12 years, 25 days ago)

So just after posting i did as i said and i was going to do, I lined the fence of this field again and there they were in large clusters in a couple pattys small to medium size mushrooms with a greyish cap a orange raised center a nipple.. kinda half ball shaped shrooms, and so i ran back to my house got a bag and picked seven or eight. so here i am at a disadvantage, i have no digital camera or camera for now so i will give ther best description...

stem:2 inches
cap: 1 inch
very water logged it just rained and very fragile..
They bruise dark blue stem is origanily tanish orangish color turning blue quickly as well as the cap making it to appear very grey.. Working on a spore print.. bleeds a dark purple black color
Smell not bad but i dont know what im smelling for either..
they were growing in clusters on the top of cow shit..
One question how do i know the gills,b i mean what am i supposed to describe
Location north texas..

take a look at those copes I just posted in your previous thread- Then lemme know what you think- I believe that depending on your area and conditions, copes can look quite diff from one another which is why I think that MJ thought they are antillarums

the 2 picture of the pics looks simalar the ones i have are more grayish the caps stain blue as well as the buttom of the stem. they have a copper erish flesh on the stems and tip of the cap other wize greyish and it appears there is blueing.. but its wierd how only three quarters of the stem is blueing and the rest goes to copperish than to white... i just walked by where i found them origanilly the stems where brownish..wierd huh not only that but i saw another patch of them simarlar shape size and they where not grey but brown with a even browner nipple type thing i beilive the ones i got are older im working on a spore prit it is purpilsh black ish..

but the stems are copperish white when picked turning blue it appears but i whiped the stems with paper towls and some of the blue stuff came off wich came me the impression that they were just spores.. but the spore print is not red like the Conocybe coprophila.. rather a dark purple or black

After taking a good look.. They are not blueing they are spore deposits.. the spore print is cole black along with the "blueing" dont trust these shrooms anyway went searching for pic similar more i looked the more these shrooms seemed no good.. i will go cube hunting there the only strain I can properly identify

Copes will ALWAYS blue noticably. It is often a dark blue, even blackish bruising. Pinching the stem can make the process a bit quicker.

Exactly! just like with this lil bastard I found in Oct

verry noticable as you can see

Chief is right-- blackish bruising is very common- just look at the base of the stems
