Alan Watts: "OM: The Sound of Hinduism" album [mp3] 1

In the spirit of Learyfan, I am sharing with the Shroomery a copy of the Alan Watts album from 1967 "Om: The Sound of Hindusim"
This one?s a little off the beaten path for us, but take this journey with us and you?ll find something beautiful. Alan Watts probably did more than any other single person to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western philosophies and religion, publishing countless books and putting out several albums, of which this was his first, released by Warner Brothers in 1967. This record is sort of like having your friendly neighborhood British mystic over for tea; Watts was nothing if not a showman, and as he charmingly discourses on methods of meditation and Hindu beliefs over droning Indian accompaniment, the effect is simultaneously soothing and compelling, almost hypnotic. This is not just a curio of the psychedelic ?60s, though collectors of that ilk will definitely want to check this out; Watts was a man of great substance and that comes through loud (well, not so loud) and clear. Includes 'Om; Tambouras for Meditation', and 'Readings from Hindu Scriptures. ' A different kind of 'Collectors? Choice Music 'exclusive, released here with brand-new notes by 'Turning Wheel Magazine' editor Susan Moon!
I have been listening to this recording for a few years and I wanted to turn you guys onto it.

I have this 10 disc set (downloaded, of course) called "Out of Your Mind" - collection of Watts lectures from his houseboat and other places during the late 1960s. It is about...life. Every aspect of the human experience is considered/covered. One of the best collections I've ever come across. Highly recommended.

You know biO, this is the best Alan Watts album that I've heard. I love the way he describes relativity and the purpose of life with such clarity. His belief system was very, very similar to my own, so I really relate to what he says. What puts this over the top as the best Watts that I've heard is the (for lack of the proper term) sitar music playing in the background. I wish all of the philosophy cds I have had it. It really adds another level of feeling to the recording and helps me focus on what is being said a lot more. One of my favorite Timothy Leary albums is the soundtrack to the unreleased "Turn On, Tune In Drop Out" movie because of the sitar playing throughout. That really makes an album for me. This makes me want to add sitar to the background of some of my other related cds.
I give this album 5 out of 5 electric sugar cubes.

Yes, that's a track from my now second favorite Watts album called "The Summer Of Love" from 1967. Good stuff.
