Not semi-transparent..what I said was "I use clear casing containers." and "However with slightly translucent, not such a big issue. I didnt have any problems with the white tub"

Transparent pins all over all the time. I never see it as a problem though since I get alot of weight from the bottom and sides. I had a few casings (amazons) that were particularly bad recently and often had flushes with more underneath, then on top. Those jars were also stored in the fridge for a week before casing giving them a good cold shock. In these I had no problems with side/bottom pinning:

The white one is just like agars in the top post..you could see light through if you hold it up

And by the way, my shelves arent wire..they are solid:

Did you ever see a pin that went moldy because you didn't pick it from the sides or bottom? Some people say that happens which is why I always try to get them all. I wish sometimes I could just leave them alone, though, since you do a lot of damage to the tray sometimes trying to get a side one off. I never had a bottom pin, though, even using translucent white bins.

PS - Nice shrooms in the picture. They look like they're shaped just right, not too squaty or tall.

scatmanrav, I have one more question for you. In your pictures, you show shrooms well into full maturity. I always was told that they lose strength, quality, or something if you let them grow out. In my years of growing I never let a whole tray grow out that far, just a few shrooms for spore prints. You and your buds don't notice any strength difference when you let them grow out like that?

Now THAT might be a myth. That shrooms get less potent after the veil has broken.
It is a "hear say" which was started by good old PF. If anyone has any proof of it I will be glad to consume the info!

Did you ever see a pin that went moldy because you didn't pick it from the sides or bottom?

Yes. Sooner or later they are all overcome by some sort of mycelium. I often dont pick alot of pins, but usally the casing ones more. Destroys the casing. The side and bottom ones are easy as hell, no casing mix to clean, come right up. Thats why I dont mind them. With large casings though the could be a pain...havnt had the problem with bulk. I'm currently testing it out with different straw bins though...got a few in clear containers. Hmm off track..anyways..they usually are overcome with just the mushroom mycelium, but I have gotten green mold once from a pin left under a dark casing. Only one pin under there..just popped up for some reason..never checked though and I dunk my casings (if they include verm) so bottom pins can easily rot.

"In your pictures, you show shrooms well into full maturity. I always was told that they lose strength, quality, or something if you let them grow out. Nope. I've tried the whole closed caps thing. Couldnt tell a difference at all. Also never hurt later flushes. Again though, I usually dunk...the spores get mostly washed off and fresh casing applied in holes where needed. I've also tried desiccant dried verses heat dried...no differences there either. I've gotten back trip repots from probably 50 people counting friends of friends. Not a single complaint yet.
