Easy myc. syringe w/ sum spores.
    #3871241 - 03/05/05 02:15 AM (11 years, 9 months ago)

Why not make a little bit of honey water, or malt water or whatever, PC it for 20-30 min whatever, then just take that last 1/2 cc of spore water, and pull up the honey/malt water into the syring and let it colonize in there?

Less chance of contams, etc, and when you have 1 cc left of myc syringe, repeat for a clone...

Sound like a good idea?

hmmm interesting idea... only problem i see is gas exchange... however i'm not sure how important that is for liquid cultures.. anyone???

I really dont see why it wouldnt work.... i mean the gas exchange thing would be an issue in the long run, but it just depends on how long you intend on keeping it.... I know that when i got my first spore syringe in the mail from a vendor on the shroomery, there was mycelium already in it..... so, i dont see why it wouldnt work.

Better to make a pint or quart jar of liquid culture (karo -or- whatever) & squirt your last 1/2 or 1 CC into it - from a spore syringe. If it goes, you end up with enough liquid culture to knock up a whole lot of anything you want. Why even try doing it in a single syringe, when you can do better.

Wow, this sounds like an awesome idea. Props to you man. Perhaps if you sucked up a lil air into the syringe and made sure to seal the end with tape (or these nifty caps that came with mine). I would think that a few CCs of air would be more than enough to get most of the syringe colonized if not all of it. Even if the air ran out i think you could keep the syringes in the fridge for a while. The air might increase risk of contams, but only slightly (unless youre dirty).

What about making a big liquid jar and as soon as you see some stuff floating around take like 10 syringes and get a lil mycelia in them and suck up some more liquid. This way you could produce a lot of them. Might replace spore syringes.

Darkie: might replace spore syringes. see the problem with that is mycelium contains psylociben and spores dont. so a mycelium syringe is illegal and a spore syringe isnt. to get past the "dirty air" just suck the air from inside the jar, its sterile. and last part about a big jar of the stuff, its commonly done its called the karo/honey water tek. sorry to break your post down like that but you have much to learn.

Sko: good thinking, i see where you are coming from. if you are doing a small grow operation then i like your idea. instead of using one of your jars for a liquid culture just use the syringe, i like. no easy to see problems with it outside of air-exchange but i think it wont be much of a factor, as already said.

Club99's Honeywater Mycelium Tek

and Yes you can use Karo (corn syrup) instead of honey.

Karo Tall 1/2 pint jar:
4cc's Karo (corn syrup)
96cc's Water

Karo Pint jar:
8cc's Karo (corn syrup)
192cc's Water

And you can put a marble in the jar to break up the mycelium.
Put the marble in before you pressure cook your jars.

How effective would it be to spawn poo with like 20cc's of myc syringe?

Manure is used for bulk substrates.

You should inoculate to grains in jars...first.
Like Rye grain, WBS, Millet, Popcorn...etc. are used for substrates.

Let those jars fully colonize.
Then spawn(mix) the fully colonized jars with some pasturized manure.

Trying to inoculate manure with a mycelium syringe would invite contams...IMO
Basically your trying to take a short cut.

Tennessee Stud has some products that are fully pasturized and come in filter patch bags.
You could get a 5 pound bag of his product and give it a try.
Are you willing to lose some time, money and product to experiment?
If you are...we would love to see your results.

I'm sure it could be done if the conditions were right.

Hey even better you could mix up Karo/water suck up about 9cc into you 10cc syringe PC then take a print 1cc x #syringes, suck that little bit of spore water and make tons of syringes of mycelia, yes you can PC syringes Ive done it.

But do what you said if you got a spore syringe but me personally id rather buy a print.

Just had another thought on the crapper, what if you sucked some Karo up into an empty spore syringe, seems to me that their still will be enough spores stuck to the plunger to resurrect the syringes, I'm gonna try this in a couple hours.
