Computer Problem
    #3869237 - 03/04/05 07:38 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I have this old computer that I just put more RAm into, and now, after like 2 minutes of running, it automatically restarts.  It jsut keeps doing it over and over again.  Did I loosen something inside?  ANy ideas?  SHould I just reinstal windows?  Update BIOS?

Sounds like bad RAM, I'm no expert though.

Make sure it isn't overheating too, and that you didn't nick loose any heatsinks or the fan connectors.

If everythin inside is fine, make sure you are using ram of the same speed.

And yeah, update the BIOS if you can.

Right but what about the next guy who comes in and buys a stick of ram that's half of what it appears to be? What if he decides to pay someone else to install it because he doesn't feel comfortable opening his box? He then has to pay them a second time because the memory amount was wrong and it had to be returned to best buy.

they don't put it back on the shelf. most of the time people return stuff it's because it's broken like in gratefuljims case. maybe he shouldn't return it because the scenario you said might play out. it dosn't work like that, plus i butchered the plastic it was in. :stoned:
