I was told somewhere that it is better to cook the brown rice before grinding it up into powder. Is this true?

if youre following the pf tek- dont grind the rice. if youre using whole rice as a substrate, cook it 1st.

but it sounds like youre grinding- so no- dont cook.

I am looking at the pftek method and it says that if you can't find brown rice powder, then to make it yourself using a coffee grinder.

somewhere, i read that one can oven sterilize substrate material before the additional pressure cooking process, which would be ok for fp tek. this would be done if you're unsure of the purity of your rice

just grind the brown rice into a powder- dont cook it.

what you were thinking of (re: cooking it) is when you use whole brown rice... interested, search for bluhoney's whole brown rice rescipe, revisited! thread in cult.

heating the rice seems like an unnecessary step- youre going to sterilize the entire mix when you pc/boil. then again, boiling wont reach pc temps... but HQ never had a prollem waterbathing it (not an unacceptable amount of contams, i mean...)
