Crumble Cakes or Not for Outdoor P. Cubensis
    #3865632 - 03/04/05 01:04 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Im going to grow some P. Cubensis mushrooms soon outdoors using Moes Tek. I was wondering if it would be better to crumble my cakes and make layers of colonized cake crumblings and straw/dung or just lay the cakes on and under the straw/dung?

I definatly agree..... Crumble the cakes well.... The more pieces, the more inoculation points, and that equals faster colonization, and who doesnt want that... lol.....  Anyway best of luck to you with the outdoor grow.... I love doing it outside, so easy.... Wish i lived somewhere where i had more than 3 or 4 months a year to do it.... Anyway, enjoy the fruits of outdoor cultivation, you lucky bastard

how should i crumble the cakes so it doesn't hurt them? I've read to just put them into a ziplock back and crumble them with your hand. Is that a good way to do it or not? Floyd, i sure as hell hope it does well too. I'm doing 12 jars; 6 with GT and 6 with PESA i think. I may use Mexi-Cub or Brazilian instead of PESA i dont know yet.

^That will work, yes^ For spawning to your straw/manure, you'll want as many small pieces as you can get.

I have another quick question. Sorry im new. Anyway, should i have a layer of crumbled cakes on top or a thin layer of soaked straw? Or maybe even a mixture of both.
