Agar is best most assured way have some control of the type of colony the issolated myc will produce.
There is nothing better and more rewarding than to issolate a highly productive strain ,that will do well in the enviros you can provide to them , in time you issolate them to be more disease resistant, less c02 sensitive.

But I feel the same way about the use of syringes.
Why go thru the extra step of handling spores (possible contam time )to stick them in a pokie, and then be relying on multispore injection to be an "excellent" strain. When I could just as easily smear a few spores(instead of whole print )on some agar, and watch that puppy grow! And have fun the whole time , "feeling" as if I have some control Germination is much faster and neater to watch , than doing multi injection inoc IMHO
