Pump up sprayer for misting?
    #3861842 - 03/03/05 12:25 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

I've seen several references to these, and am not quite sure what they are or how to get one. I'm just using a normal hand sprayer that you squeeze, like you can find at wal-mart. Supposedly these pump up kinds produce a finer mist, and I want to get ahold of one. Anyone know where I can get one or explain what they are?

Excerpt from one of my textbooks:
Therefore, between a then and its matching else, there cannot be an if statement without an else. Statements must be distinguished between those that are matched and those that are unmatched, where unmatched statements are else-less ifs and all other statements are matched.
I wonder if that would make more sense if I was tripping when I read it.

I believe what you are describing is a garden sprayer.
You should be able to find one at any garden supply store. Most of the ones I have ever seen will hold more than a gallon of water, if you are looking for something that large. The one I use (in my flower garden) holds 3 gallons (at least). There are different nozzles you can buy for them and yes, they can provide a fine mist. However, they can also produce a more forceful mist as well, which would be undesirable for our needs. Just don't pump it up too much and blow the casing layer off

You can get them in 1 L formats.

Check walmart, home depot, etc.. during the garden season.

Easier on the hands than what you have now,,, cool gadgets !

Those are good and all...but the mist..isnt so fine. If you want REAL fine mist. Go with a Misty Mate. Search on google for them. They look like the green one below:

The ones in the garden store work...they just put out alot of water quickly...it can be to much sometimes...I'm a fan of incredibly fine mist to prevent sealing.

Anyone looking to start bulk tubs/mono tubs/shotgun hybrids? Good tubs to use..
How I do grain (old still good tips)

Casing layer colonization and overlay

What's sealing? Also, with the Misty Mate, is the mist fine enough that it won't damage mycelium so much or do I still need to be real careful about hitting my cakes directly with the spray?

Misty mate is the finest mist you will possibly get. You still have to be a little carefull, but not really so much. I directly spray mycelium all the time. You just need to do it from 10 inches away or so and move quickly over it back and forth evenly.

Sealing is like...when you water house plants. When the soil is dry and fluffy, if you over fill it, or pour the water in to quickly in one spot, you get a high concentration of water and the dirt floats for a minute then as the water drains, it compacts down and has that flat compacted look, instead of the fluffy look. You want your casing to have that fluffy look. Mist to hard and it flattens it out like overwatering a plant. Same thing happens after a dry time and it rains, it floods easier because the ground is sealed and cant absorb moisture well. Thats also why you cant fluctuate humidity/moisture content. If your going for optimal anyway.

You're the man, you always have good explanations. I'm still just doing cakes atm, but I'm noc'ing up some more jars tomorrow, and I plan on casing two of them. Hope you're still around when I do, I could use the advice!
