Hey people! Cool site. Great info. I'm still nervous! This past weekend I realized that the ranch I have access to has a bumper crop of shrooms. I've never hunted them before. They look very similar to many of the pics here. Long stem, small diameter caps and light brown, etc. Just scared to try them! Any tips or words of encouragement. I'm going back this weekend with a digital camera to take a few pics to post. Thanks in advance for any info.

Hows it going fellow shroomer... You should try reading some of the other posts on this site and try looking at some guides before you try to eat anything. If they are good shrooms they will bruise blue on the step and cap where you handle it or grab it hard. But before you eat it you should post a pick or at least check out some guides.

The shrooms will not necisarily bruise blue if they are hallucinogenic and are not necisarily halucinogenic if they do bruise blue. Depending on where you live you could still find Panealus Subbalteatus which I have never seen bruise blue. Look for them in rotting hay or horse, and sometimes cow, manure. You can pretty easily find a description in the grow/find section of The Shroomery. Be quick though because the season is winding down if it has not already for this shroom.

Good luck and make sure you do lots of research before eating anything

your description "Long stem, small diameter caps and light brown, etc." describes almost all mushrooms. its not enough for it to look like a mushroom. post pics.
