Frances the Mute (Mars Volta)

Go buy it. It rocks.

The Mars Volta never fail to impress me.

*waits for all the "cool" people to bash it*

I heard Cassandra Gemini, I was diggin it. I may have to go get the full album. I liked De-loused at the Comatorium. I love their music, I'm not totally crazy for the vocals though.

His vocals fit though. I can't explain it (and I obviously can't speak for others) but with the combination of the music and his voice, it's pure bliss.

While I find the cd good, I like it nowhere near as much as Deloused, maybe it just has to grow on me. It seems like they just tried too hard to make it complex just for the sake of sounding complex, seems like lots of random noise in the later tracks. Nevertheless, its available for 6.99 at Best Buy if you want to pick it up.

I really like Mars Volta, much better than Sparta IMO. One of the only bands in the punk genre that plays 3/4.

I could see that. Usually for me my favorite albums had to grow on me.

A good friend brought over a Mars Volta album for me to listen to a few weeks ago and I just couldn't get into it. Good solid rock, but I just couldn't get into it... It was definitely GREAT MUSIC... just not my style, to heavy.... to much anger, mabye?

Are you sure it was Mars Volta? They seem very... un-angry to me.

I agree with Gr8fulJ, they are a really rockin' band, but it's like listening to Yes without the love and happiness that Yes projects. The album that we listened to (no idea what that was, ask bluishgreenthumb...) had a lot of anger and angst in it. Great to listen to, but to angry to chill to. Good band

That was strange, I've never heard mars volta before, but as soon as a read the title to this thread, over the radio I heard "heres some Mars Volta". Strange. But so far they sound pretty good!
