psilocybe cubensis please read

My friend found the Vicks V400 humidifier at a Walmart today, the same model you use. His question is: how should he modify output so that it is fed into a garden hose, then to a growth chamber? Is cutting or drilling into the humidifier required, and if so, what with?

i dont know if pc read here anymore, but heres my 02-

you can patch the output hole (the little "s" looking thing) with something. HQ has used a flexible piece of plastic (namely a tub stopper cut to the correct size) and caulk the piece onto the output. then, you can make holes into the lid where the hoses will go (a sauldering iron works well to melt plastic). caulk the tubing thru the holes. i notice pc used an adjustment valve for output, which is a nice touch. you could also consider making the tubing longer and winding it around on itself (kinda like in a spring pattern) - thereby making excess humidity form inside the tubing. this can lend to *not* having drops of water being sprayed directly into the terrarium, where they can retard growth if they land on pinheads. the tubing can be led directly into a terrarium this way... or by using a plastic hose attachment. with a plastic terrarium, you could make a hole in the side with the same sauldering iron, and caulk/glue/whatever the attachment or the hose right into it. i think pc uses a glass setup though... so this is different :)

also, since cool mists are prone to leakage, you can cut an additional hole into the lid, and caulk the lid onto the body (where the leakage usually comes from). the extra hole is used for pouring water into the coolmist- which youll need to watch and replace, depending on how often the coolmist is run (what kinda of schedule- you can use a timer, etc.). the additional hole, being on top, can be taped over to prevent water loss and nasties floating in. its higher than where the lid meets the body, so less water has a chance of escaping onto your carpet. the vicks has a nice little filter on it; not hepa or anything but it stops gross contaminates from being sucked in and driven into the water/the setup. dont cover it up :)

im not pc, but i hope this helps. someone will be posting pics soon of the modifications and the setup (within a few days) and ill post where the pics will be (what forum). gluck.
