Can't get pearlite to work!

Yesterday, I posted regarding elevating foaf's trays above the pearlite in styrofoam cooler to hopefully expose more pearlite to the air and hopefully increase the humidity. By the way thanx Shiznitz for your response. Anyway that didnt do much, so I decided to experiment. Took another cooler and covered the bottom inch or so in pearlite, added water and a humidity guage, and put the lid on. Humidity 65%. What the fuck? Everyone else here seems to have the exact oppisite problem with humidity as me, what am I missing?

Well, maybe, but my foaf bought two of them and is having the same problem in all his terrariums. I'll put both in the same cooler and see what they say. However, there doesn't seem to be much condensation on the walls or lid. I don't know, at least they are cased in verm. which should help, buut by the time they start fruiting I hope to have this problem solved. Thanx Puscle.

Try going here and test/calibrate your hydrometer.

Only other thing i can think of is to make sure it is perlite that you are useing. but i am sure you are.
and your right i have the exact opisite problem 99%+ humidity
