Beautiful things to see in Western America
    #3855111 - 03/01/05 11:52 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

I will be taking a trip out west sometime this year. I will be in pretty much every state over there. Does anybody have any suggestions on stuff to see? I of course will hit a lot of the National Parks and such. Does anybody have a suggestion on something that is absolutely beautiful, amazing, or fun?

A few place I would recommend are the Exploratorium in SF and Muir Woods right outside of SF. Be sure to make Yosemite a top priority. Tahoe and Reno are cool and right across the CA/NV border from each other.

Mid-Northern Arizona has some very beautiful areas, like Prescott, Flagstaff, Sedona, and higher up the Grand Canyon.

when I was living in Tempe for a few weeks, I went through Prescott, Sedona (had ice cream there - whole place seemed kinda yuppie but was ok), drove around Flagstaff (awesome place) and crashed for a bit in a hotel parking lot, and went near the Grand Canyon but didn't actually visit it because we didn't wanna pay $20 to see the Southern rim since the Northern rim was closed due to snow. northern AZ was a really nice area and definitely more appealing to me than southern AZ. you can only see so much desert for so long in my opinion.

I thought my egg hiding under a blanket avatar highlighted my eccentricities fairly well.

Yeah, I've been to Arizona once before. I quickly went through Sedona and Flagstaff. I didn't really get a chance to check them out. I saw the Grand Canyon, Oak Creek Canyon highway, and Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. I definately am going back to northern Arizona.

That was a good report. I remember reading it a while ago.
There is definately a ton to do in san fran. Just exploring could keep you occupied for days.

straight up, muir woods and muir beach is the shit. especially if you see where these huge trees that are in a grid effect, awesome.

make sure randal that you go see the redwoods up in northern cali. that and the caverns in oregon are awesome.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

I am definately seeing Redwoods National Park.

Where are the caverns in Oregon? Do you mean Oregon Caves National Monument in the southern part of the state?

In Oregon, I am definately going to drive along the coastal highway, go to Crater Lake National Monument, see Portland, see the Sea Lion Cave along the coast, see Columbia River Gorge, and see Mt. Hood.
